Thoughts From The Peacock Angel |
I'm a writer from new york city, I'm in love with glam rock and electric guitars, glitter and sex. I'm a kinky white atheist feminist genderfluid high femme fag-dyke submissive... and a professional dominatrix, and I'm married to the most beautiful human on earth. Cobwebs, broken glass, feathers, sequins, bones, art, sex, pain, life, love. Also apparently I give kickass advice on sex toys... go ahead and ask me.

In terms of social justice I think we need to be more like Dr. House, not as in a racist misogynistic dick weasel, but as in just a plain ol’ dick weasel. We need to stop being so goddamn nice when dealing with oppressive asshats enforcing the kyriarchy… when we see oppressive douchebaggery/ass-hattery, we need to call people out on it. Not just on the internet, but in real life.
Friend blames a rape victim for their attack? Call them out on it, and do in a funny, sarcastic way.
Family member makes a bigoted comment? Bring it up, be loud, be pissed off. Let people know that they CANNOT get away with this shit anymore.
Only through humor can we triumph under the sarcastic weight of “can’t you take a joke?” in this society.
Goddamn it, I was just reminded of the existence of these guys while reading about Ginsberg. Now look here, I’m not one who wants to silence portions of the gay rights movement, the queens, the people who cruise in parks and public restrooms, the leatherfolks, all great in my book. All fantastic and awesome in my book. However, NAMBLA (The North American Man/Boy Love Association, if you were wondering) is not a goddamn gay rights group, it’s a group that promotes the idea that adults having sexual relationships with adolescents isn’t harmful. It’s not about gay rights, because it’s not about the fact that the relationships they promote are homosexual, it’s about the fact that they’re between an adult and a minor. Due to the inherent power imbalance and the fact that the risk taking center of an adolescent’s brain is not yet fully formed, this is simply untrue, these relationships are inherently exploitive.
And you know what, I don’t even believe they should be silenced, I don’t believe we should criminalize membership in the KKK, as freedom of speech is vitally important, and the suppression there of is a slippery slope that leads to totalitarianism, but I really wish these bastards would stop associating themselves with the gay rights movement.
They aren’t a part of the gay rights movement, the fact that they participated in the “Spirit of Stonewall” march is a mockery. There’s no mention of discrimination against same sex couples in their mission statement, they aren’t upset over society’s views on homosexuality, they’re upset over society’s (largely correct) view of adults having sex with children.
NAMBLA doesn’t belong in the gay rights movement, and the fact that they’re evil (genuinely evil) means they just do harm to the movement in general.
This holiday season have the decency, the generosity not to toss quarters in the Salvation Army’s buckets. Although the Salvation Army does help the needy and the poor it also strongly support violently homophobic public policy, and is incredibly discriminatory in many of its practices. It doesn’t give benefits to gay people’s partners and is a vocal opponent of gay marriage. Instead of funding these bastards, give your money to a similarly generous charity without all the bigotry: Toys For Tots, UNICEF, Non-Believers Giving Aid, The American Red Cross, Doctor’s Without Boarders, The ASPCA, The Gates Foundation and The ACLU to name a few.
Or you could go with funding a LGBTQ charity like The Matthew Shepard Foundation, GLAAD, or The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission
Basically, point is, don’t give to the salvation army and support evil when you can give to these guys and support good.
…Hilarity
The link is to the website of the anti-gay group “public advocate’ I saw one of their ads on the internet and it irritated me so much that I’ve been calling their office every day politely informing them that they’re misguided and not being very nice. However they never pick up the phone… so I’m thinking in order to speak to them we should start a letter writing/calls campaign to get them to respond to us.
Their contact info is as follows:
Public Advocate of the United States Phone: 703-845-1808 Please phrase your missives politely, but get as many people flooding their offices with letters and calls as possible, as I hope to get an interview with their leader for my blog… and possibly to show them the volume of support for gay rights.

I don’t understand why so often we end up fighting each other of semantics, over the proper way to fight against discrimination and oppression rather than fighting against our common enemy. It drives me crazy and I hate it.
Because I’m indecisive…

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love heterosexuals. It’s just that they need more supervision. ~Lynn Lavner

Rock on, queers. I’ve always kinda said rock n’ roll tends to (not always, just tends to) work best if you like pussy regardless of your sex/gender, most of the best rock n’ roll in its history has been produced by lesbian/bisexual/etc women, and straight/bisexual/etc men.

Being in the closet means denying one’s sexual orientation, or gender identity, and has spread across the culture to mean hiding anything about oneself due to shame, or fear of how people will respond.
To me personally, it’s been a long time since I’ve been in the closet, I’ve been out to most of my family for about eight years. However, to me the closet is fear, and shame, a place where we are put, not a place we put ourselves. Society stuffs us into the closet, and coming out is not the act of choosing to leave self imposed exile, coming out is the act of breaking out of confinement enforced by others. The closet is imprisonment within ourselves, society locking up our ability to love and live as ourselves and throwing away the key. Of course, it’s safer in the closet, safe because you haven’t broken the rules, safe because you’re serving your life term with good behavior, like a good little homosexual, but even though it’s safer, it’s still prison.
I’m posting this in the spirit of Pride. This is a really old photo of Madeira and I. I just love the concept.
I’m sad we weren’t together on pride… I missed the parade and would much rather have spent the day with you <3
